Thomas County increased the score at 2-0, in the 17th minute, on a Free Kick goal scored by Lady Yellow Jacket forward Jade Guyton. A Bainbridge defender committed a handball foul just outside the Bainbridge penalty area setting up a Thomas County direct free kick. Guyton quickly set the ball and lofted it to the top corner of the goal for the score.

The Lady Yellow Jacket scored their third goal in the match, in the 18th minute, as the result of an own goal by Bainbridge. Thomas County’s Guyton got through the center of the Bainbridge defense, where a Lady Bearcat defender hustled back trying to deflect a shot, but inadvertently sent it just inside the right post into the goal.

Bainbridge cut into the lead at 3-1, in the 28th minute when senior midfielder Haley Thompson scored from the top of the penalty area. The scoring play was assisted by Lady Bearcat freshman forward Jamya Brinson who sent a lead pass to the right side to Thompson who sprinted outside of the Yellow Jacket defense and delivered a well placed shot.

The final score of the game came with 13 minutes remaining in the contest as Curry stole the ball from a Lady Bearcat defender just outside the Bainbridge penalty area, dribbled to the center and quickly scored on a shot from 14-yards out.

“Our girls played hard and hustled throughout the contest, but near our penalty area we just made too many critical mistakes that the Jackets ultimately turned into three scoring opportunities,” head coach Chip Arial said. “The only thing we can do is learn from our mistakes and continue to make strides on being a more fundamentally sound team.”

Bainbridge drops their record to 2-2 on the season and 0-2 in region play.
