Bearcats and Lady Cats place in the top three at the Larry Clark Invitational

The Cats and Lady Cats Track Teams competed this past weekend in the Dr. Larry Clark Invitational at Bainbridge High School. The Lady Cats finished third and the Bearcats finished second. There were 17 teams participating in this meet. 

Zyon McGee won the boy’s triple jump in the meet with a jump of 41-feet, 8-inches. Tremayne Campbell finished third in the event. In the high jump, Rashad Odom finished second, Campbell finished fifth, Jashua Emanuel finished sixth and Radese Williams finished seventh. Odom also scored points for the Bearcats with a fourth place finish in the long jump.

Roman Harrison and Iran Brown finished fourth and fifth in the discus respectively. In the 3200-meter race, Haydyn Griffin finished fourth, Efrain Diaz finished sixth and Alexander Coleman finished seventh.  Stokes Moore, Griffin and Coleman all finished on the top eight in the 1600-meter race to score points for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats 4×100 team of Javon Mimms, Fred Thompson, Jeremiah Hodge and Jordon McMullien finished eighth. The 4×400 team of Vonderion Campbell, Hodge, La’Derrick Williams and Jaylyn Scott finished third. The second 4×400 team of JaMarvin Bouie, McGee, LaDerrick Williams and Odom finished sixth. Scott and Bouie also finished second and seventh in the 300 hurdles. Vonderion Campbell finished third in the 100 and Andre Jackson came in just behind in fourth. McMullien, Vonderion Campbell and Cosby placed in the top six of the 200 and Odom and Williams placed in the top eight in the 400. Scott and Bouie also placed second and sixth respectively in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Lady Cats saw a strong performance from their 4×100 relay team of Tyra Jackson, Tyaisha Gant, Makayla Cooper and Cyan Gant who finished first in 50.36 seconds. Gant also won the high jump with a height of 4-feet, 8-inches. The Lady Cats’ 4×400 teams finished third and eighth.

Tyesha Binyard finished second in both the 100 and 200-meter races. Tyaisha Gant and Cyan Gant finished second and eighth respectively in the 400-meter. Mabry-Grace Briggs finished fifth in the 800 and her teammate Caitlin Miller finished eighth.

Uriyah Davis finished seventh in the 1600 and sixth in the 3200. Camry Fillingame finished eighth in both the 1600 and 3200. Tykeia Campbell and Amaia Taylor finished in second and third respectively in both the 100 and 300-meter hurdles. Destiny Turner finished sixth in the long jump, Iesha Smart finished third in the triple jump and Dyshayla Henderson finished sixth in the eighth.

Both teams will be in competition this weekend in Thomasville at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. 18 girls’ teams and 18 boys’ team have registered to compete in this meet.
