Last Saturday, February 25th, under a beautiful canopy of pecan trees, the Brinson Community Club hosted its annual picnic. It is estimated that 200-300 people attended and enjoyed the feast prepared by the BCC members and their wives. Fried fish, chicken, barbecued ribs and raccoon, along with all manner of side dishes and a bountiful array of the most sumptuous desserts were enjoyed by the crowd and many plates were taken to neighbors and families who were not able to attend.
For those who are curious, the raccoon was cooked with sweet potatoes and tasted like beef pot roast. It was delicious.
The Brinson Community Club was formed a number of years ago to help friends and neighbors who had fallen on hard times, especially those who had lost loved ones. Membership is open and those interested in joining should contact Joe Belvin.
