The Lady Cats swept Northview 5-0 with Sydney Burke winning No. 1 singles, Chloe Powell winning No. 2 singles and Jade Stacey winning No. 3 singles. In the doubles competition, Bree Powell and Brianna Mills teamed up to win No. 1 doubles and Gracie Surratt and Madison Wells won No. 2 doubles.

On Wednesday, Cook defeated the Lady Cats 1-4 after winning No. 1 and No. 3 singles in tiebreakers. Bainbridge’s sole win in the match came in No. 1 doubles where Powell and Mills won.

Head Coach Amy Thomas said that they knew the Cook County match would be difficult after the Lady Cougars defeated them in the region tournament last year.

“Later in the season we would definitely give them a run for their money,” Thomas said. “[The girls] looked good. We just have to find the right line-up moving forward.”

The Bearcats lost to Northview 1-4 and Cook County 2-3. Against Northview, Bainbridge’s sole win was Barrett Jackson and Lawson Humphrey in No. 2 doubles. Dalton Savage picked up a win in No. 3 doubles against Cook and Mark Loeffler came from behind to win No. 1 singles.

“We started out playing two really good teams,” Thomas said. “We had a lot of work to do.”

Thomas added that the team going from winning one match on Tuesday to two on Wednesday was a sign that they are moving in the right direction.

The teams return to the court on Monday, Feb. 13 with a home match against Colquitt County.
