Doris Powe Palmer, 90, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery.

Doris Elaine Powe was born April 12, 1926, in Whigham, Ga., the daughter of Luther Powe and Bernice Pope Powe. She was a graduate of Whigham High School and a member of Black Jack Baptist Church. Doris married Henry A. Palmer, Jr. February 15, 1945, and raised her family in the Black Jack Community.
Doris was a hard worker and left her mark at several sites in Decatur County: Williamson-Dickie, Jack Winter, United Plastics and Amoco Fabrics & Fibers. While she gave 100% at work, she always had a suitcase ready for 100% adventure too. Doris enjoyed traveling, especially to the mountains, fishing, word searches, and gospel sings. Time spent with her family was high priority and will continue to be a source of fond memories.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice Meredith and her husband, Robert, of Bainbridge and Wilda Gardner and her husband, Allen, of Brinson; her grandchildren, Christy and Jamie Phillips, Robbie and Suzanne Meredith, Kelly and Tracy Sheppard, Julie Gardner, William and Dana Gardner, Ashleigh and Richard Williamson, Samantha and Macon Robinson, and Bryant Jenson; her sixteen great-grandchildren; a number of special nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law, Paul Palmer and his wife, Clara. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry A. Palmer, Jr.; her daughter, Laura Jenson; her siblings, James Winfred Powe, Benny Powe, Felton Powe, Glenna Mae Logue and Blanche Johnson; and her grandson, Forest Jenson, Jr.
