Johnny Gaines III
January 10, 2017
Johnny Gaines III was born February 29, 1976, to Helen and Johnny Gaines Jr., in Bainbridge, Ga. The Lord called him home on Jan. 10, 2017, when his battle was won and the Lord said, “My son, job well done. Come home.”
Services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 3 p.m. at St. Paul M.B. Church on Thomasville Road, where Rev. John Wooden is the pastor. Rev. Henry Flowers III will officiate. Interment will follow at Jonas Lobe Cemetery
He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother Helen Henderson Gaines; father Johnny Gaines Jr.; sister Barbara Grimsley (Kenneth); brother Nathaniel Gaines; niece Lakendra Grimsley; Nephew Kenny Jr.; wife Angela Johnson; stepdaughter, Sierra Johnson; Step-son Isaiah Johnson; aunts, Clara Jones, JoAnn Bell, Lula Burke; and uncle Bufford Gaines, as well as a host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr. Willie and Georgia Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny and Louise Gaines; a sister, Christina Denise Gaines, at birth, and an infant daughter, Faith Janayah Gaines.
Johnny was well known by many as a rapper and rapping in the shingding, and his latest was a song called, “It’s Christmastime,” with help of his stepdaughter, Sierra Johnson. His favorite saying was, “It is what it is.”
A poem, “Moving and Change of Address Notice,” from his sister, Barbara Grimsley:
“I want to let each of you know that I have moved. I received a call from God the Master, informed me that my new home is ready and that I could move in right away. You all know that I have been sending up my timber, packing up and getting ready. I don’t have to run this race no more and that I have to get fitted for my wings, so if you miss me from being around here, my new address: Johnny Gaines III, Redeemed City Heaven. P.S. I don’t have a telephone yet, but just call Jesus. If you need his number, it is listed in the good book Bible.”
Bruton Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
