Bainbridge girls basketball have won five of six

The Lady Cat basketball team is off to a hot start to the second half of the season. Bainbridge beat Veterans on the road last Friday 59-51 and returned home on Saturday to hold down the home court with a 49-43 win over Tift County.

The Lady Cats are now 10-4 on the season heading into their Region 1-AAAA schedule.

Nadia Marshall hit 20 points against the Lady Warhawks, followed by Tyra Smart with 14 points and Tytannia Roseborough had 10 points.

Smart was 4 of 6 for 3-pointers, and Marshall went 1 of 2.

Leading the way for Veterans is Carrington Kee with 18 points and Tamia Luckie with 15 points.

Kee hit one 3-pointer in seven attempts.

From the free throw line, the Lady Cats went 10 for 20 (50 percent), a sharp contrast to the Lady Warhawks’ 26 for 35 (74 percent).

Back at the Bainbridge Gym on Saturday night, Marshall led the way with a double-double, putting in 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to beat Tift County.

Smart added 12 to the board, all from 3-pointers, and Roseborough poured in 8 points.

The Lady Cats were nearly perfect from the free throw line, hitting 13 of 14 (93 percent).

Bainbridge plays the Cairo Syrupmaids on Friday at Cairo High School. Tipoff is 6 p.m.
