Mr. Grover Cleveland Duncan, Jr.,88, of Colquitt, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Royce Horne and Rev. Joel Hudgens officiating. Interment will follow at Cook’s Cemetery with Robert Thompson, Stacy Thompson, Tracy Thompson, Jason Houston, Israel Houston, Rocky Duncan, Jr., Jack D. Nicholson, and Ronnie Thompson serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home.
Mr. Duncan was a member of Cook’s Union Methodist Church. He was an ordained minister and was a self-employed tile setter.
He is survived by his wife Genesta “Coot” Duncan of Colquitt; three sons, Rocky Duncan of Colquitt, Anthony Duncan of Colquitt, and Michael Duncan of St. Simons Island, Ga.; four daughters, Rhonda Thompson of Dothan, Ala., Melody Houston of Colquitt, Jackie Nicholson of Colquitt, and Connie Taylor of Bainbridge, Ga.; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by one grandson, Sheffield Duncan, and three sons-in-law, Gregg Houston, Jack Nicholson, and Terry Taylor.
