“The guys played excellent tonight!” said Coach McRae. “Highland has a 6’9” center and he is a tough match up for us.”

The Cougars were able to contain the towering center by a rotating defensive effort by Nate Wilson, Jared Duke, Clay Wells, and Branch Austinson.

The Cougars edged out the Eagles by six points for a final score of 64-58. Sam McRae led the Cougars in scoring and rebounding with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Five other Cougars contributed on offensive, with Caleb Carr coming in just behind McRae with 16 points.

Any basketball coach will tell you games are won and lost on the glass. The Cougars grabbed 28 rebounds total, blocked 4 shots, and came away with 4 steals.

“They also fought hard and rebounded well.” Said Coach McRae. “Caleb Carr had an excellent game. He hit some huge shots for us down the stretch.”

GCA will ride the momentum from this game into their next game Tuesday, 13, at Georgia Christian in Valdosta.
