Billy Ray Wilson, 70, passed away, surrounded by his family, 2nd of December, 2016 at MD Anderson Cancer Center, after a brief battle with cancer.

Billy was born 14th of November, 1946 in Bainbridge, Georgia to Edward Gordon “Billy” Wilson and Erma McCann Wilson. Billy was baptized into the Baptist faith. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1964. He attended Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, GA.

On 18th June, 1967 he married his high school sweetheart Lynda. This year they celebrated 49 years of marriage. They have two children, their daughter, Kelly Wilson De La Vega and son Jeff Wilson.

Billy began his career in the LP Gas Industry in Tallahassee and Gainesville, FL. In 1980 he and his family moved to Houston, TX. He began employment with Union Texas Petroleum Corporation. Billy’s career in the crude oil marketing industry spanned 36 years. It included employment with the Gavilon Group, LLC and most recently with NGL Energy Partners LP.

Billy a.k.a. “BR” was a quiet gentle spirit. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and taking care of his property in the country. He was an avid college football fan and his favorite team was the Florida State Seminoles “FSU”. Billy loved his family and was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. To know Billy was to love him. He leaves behind a multitude of family, friends and colleagues who will miss him deeply.

Billy is preceded in death by his father Edward G “Billy” Wilson, his mother Erma McCann Wilson, his brothers Eddie and Charlie Wilson.

He is survived by his wife Lynda Wilson, daughter Kelly de la Vega and her husband Javier, son Jeff Wilson and his significant other Valerie Grizzaffi all from Houston, TX.

He will be missed by his grandsons Jacob and Joshua de la Vega, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
