The Bearcats dominated the third quarter, outscoring the Packers 15-5, but allowed 29 points in the fourth quarter and slipped behind.

“We were not mentally ready to play and that falls back on me,” coach Terry Smith said. “I have to do a better job of getting them mentally prepared.”

The Bearcats missed 19 shots at the basket in the first half, setting them up for an uphill battle against a Packers team that were taking advantage of scoring opportunities left and right.

Maleke Lurry led the Bearcats with 10 points. Jacquez Bruton had 8 points and Jeremiah Davis added 7 to the board.

Smith said the one positive from the game was the Bearcats were 8 of 11 at the free throw line, the best percentage the team has had in the three games this season.

“I have to do a better job in practice getting them physically and mentally ready to compete, and I will,” Smith said.

After the first quarter the Packers were leading 13-7, and they were up 31-18 at halftime. At the end of the third quarter, the Bearcats had closed the gap 36-33.

Bainbridge played against Thomasville Friday night, and will host Seminole County at the Bainbridge Gym on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
