Charles Joseph Barber was born November 14, 1954, in Bainbridge, Ga., the son of Willie Charles Barber and Ruby Mae Smith Barber. He lived all of his life in Decatur County and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. Joe graduated in 1972 from Calvary Christian Academy. He was employed as a dispatcher/supervisor at TexPar. Joe married the love of his life, Tawan Nichols, in 1988.

Joe was a mama’s boy who never stopped bragging on his mama’s cooking. He loved his family and friends. Joe worked hard and played hard as evidenced by his million dollar smile. Many will remember Joe from Big Jim’s. He always had a grand time leading karaoke with Tawan on weekends.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Tawan Nichols Barber; his mother, Ruby Barber of Bainbridge; his sisters, Sue Hill and her husband, John, of Bainbridge, Pam Driggers of Iron City, Ga. and Judy Hall and her husband, Robert, of Panama City, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Charles Barber.
