Carvajal named finalist at Valdosta State for president position

Dr. Richard Carvajal, the former president at Bainbridge State College, officially interviewed for the open president position at Valdosta State University on Thursday according to the Valdosta Daily Times.

Carvajal served as the president at Bainbridge State College from October 2011 until December 2015 when he was named the interim president at Darton State College. Carvajal was tasked with overseeing the merger between Darton and Albany State University, a process that is expected to be finalized in the next few months.

He was named one of the four finalists for the opening at VSU by the Presidential Search and Selection Committee. According to the Valdosta Daily Times, the other finalist include Kelli R. Brown, the current interim president at VSU, Christopher G. Maples, who served as the president at Oregon Institute of Technology from 2008 until July 2016, and Timothy C. Caboni, who is the vice chancellor for public affairs at the University of Kansas.
