Eighth grade basketball team opens season with big wins

The Bainbridge Middle School team is off to a 3-0 start after two wins over Brookwood and one over Washington Middle School.

The Bearcats started the season with a 63-10 victory over Brookwood. Rashad Broadnax led the team with 18 points in the win. Javon Lee was second with 14, Caleb McDowell added eight and Mark Taylor and Jamorris Cosby each had six.

The Bearcats improved to 2-0 on the season with a 43-11 victory over Washington Middle School. Lee was the leading scorer in the game with 15 points.

Broadnax was second with 13. Casey Jones had seven, McDowell had two and Caleb Lewis and A.J. Johnson each had three.

Bainbridge Middle won its first home game of the season with a 49-20 victory over the Brookwood Warriors.

Lee led the team in scoring for the second straight game with 16 and Taylor finished second with a season high of seven. Broadnax scored six points, McDowell added four and Jones had three.

Through three games, Lee leads the scoring with 45 points. He is averaging 15 points-per-game. Broadnax is second with 37 points, good for an average of 12.3 points-per-game. 

The Bearcats will host Cairo Middle School at home on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
