Bainbridge Middle School basketball got off to a great start on Wednesday, November 2, with a win for both the boys and girls teams. The teams started their seasons off against the Washington Middle School Tigers.
The Lady Cats were led in scoring by Detayia Salter, who scored 13 points. Four others contributed on offense in the effort to beat W.M.S.
“These 7th grade girls are a good group to coach. They played as a team and won as a team. While working hard, they did exactly what they have been taught in practice. They wanted to show their parents and all the spectators that they’re learning the fundamentals of basketball and applying it to the game,” said Coach Lisa Taylor.
The boy’s team dominated the Tigers with a final score of 55-21. Deyon Bouie led the Bearcats in scoring with an impressive 23-point effort. Ty Finn contributed 12 points and five other Bearcats also scored.
“The boys are really starting to execute the offense more efficiently as we continue to play through season. They are sharing the ball on offense and pressing the ball on defense,” said Coach Patrick Clark.
Next on the schedule, the Bearcats will travel to Washington Middle School for a rematch on November 7. Tip-off is at 4:30 P.M. for the boys.
