Cross-country teams are going to state

The Bainbridge Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country teams ran in the Region 1-AAAAA meet last Saturday at Warner Robins, and had multiple runners post strong times for the 5K races.

The Bearcats and the Lady Cats both qualified for the State Meet.

Bainbridge freshman Stokes Moore led the pack for the Bearcats, coming in sixth place overall out of 35 runners with a time of 18:25.

Wright Cook was right under a minute behind Moore with a time of 19:13.22 and a 14th place finish. In 17th place was Haydn Griffin with a time of 19:36.31, followed by Nathanial Lambert in 20th place with a time of 19:59.53, Efrain Diaz in 27th place with a time of 21:07.22, John Willis Maples in 31st place with a time of 21:46.88 and Andru Matthews in 34th place with a time of 22:51.00.

The Bearcats came in fourth place in the region. First place went to Veterans, second to Warner Robins, third to Thomas County Central and fifth to Harris County.

Uriyah Davis was lightning fast for the Lady Cats, coming in second place overall out of 33 runners and recording a time of 22:20.

Camry Fillingame was half a minute behind her with a fifth place finish and a time of 22:51. Alaiya Schuyler came in 22nd with a time of 25:37, Aida Diaz came in 24th with a time of 25:56, Lani Jackson came in 29th with a time of 27:36, Caitlin Shephard came in 30th with a time of 27:44 and Chloe Enfinger came in 32nd with a time of 30:53.

Bainbridge will compete at the State Meet in Carrollton on Saturday, Nov. 5. The boys will race at 12:30 p.m. and the girls will race at 1:15 p.m.
