Russell David Ayers, 91, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Monday, October 24, 2016.

The graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Grubbs officiating.

Russell David Ayers was born September 27, 1925, in Bluefield, West Va., the son of Nathaniel Ayers and Hattie Reedy Ayers. Russell served his country in World War II in the United States Coast Guard. He married Georgia Gardner Conway in June 1988, and began to enjoy his retirement from the automobile industry. Russell was employed at Orange Buick and Heintzilman Ford in Orlando, Fla. for many years prior to being a wholesale dealer. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and Blind Veterans Association. Russell was also a lifetime member of the Elks.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia Gardner Ayers; his step-children, Leonard Craig Conway of Panama City, Fla., T. Lee Conway of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., and Annette MacDougald of Orlando, Fla.; his nieces and nephew, Steve Ayers and his wife, Tammy, of Chipley, Fla., Lori Ellis and her husband, Tim, of Lakeland, Fla., and Marta Holzapfel and her husband, Paul, of Orlando; his seven grandchildren and six great-granchildren. Russell was preceded in death by his siblings, Nancy A. Cooke and Norman Wayne Ayers, and his step-daughter, Paula Lynn Conway.
