Cross-country runners and 5K joggers came together for a cause bigger than getting a workout or improving their cardio health last Saturday.
To honor the death of deceased Bainbridge cross-country runner Dylan Reid Faircloth, who lost his life in a car accident in 2010 at 18 years old, the seventh annual Epic 5K Challenge was held at the Spring Hill Tree Farm.
Every year, the race raises money for a scholarship in Faircloth’s honor and unites friends and families for a morning of love, happiness and fond memories.
Dustin Reynolds was the overall winner of the 2016 Epic 5K, clocking in with a course record of 18:07.
Macey Williams was the top female runner.
Stan Gann, the man who received Faircloth’s heart after his passing, ran the course with the young heart pumping in his chest. Gann is a former Georgia Tech quarterback.
Other top runners were Richard Cox, John Adams, Lesley Maples, Nicholas Batchelor, John Hermanes, Masey Tabb, Alex Byrd, June Faircloth and Suzanne Angell.
