Erma McCann Wilson was born July 25, 1926, in Tampa, Fla., the daughter of Grover McCann and Ruby Hatcher McCann. She was a graduate of Pine Hill High School and a member of First Baptist Church. On September 24, 1945 Erma married the love of her life, Edward “Billy” Wilson. “Miss Erma” worked as a seamstress at Jack Winter in Bainbridge.

Erma’s gift was her hands. Her favorite pastimes were gardening and crochet. Her house was filled with African violets, and her yard filled with flowers, fruits and vegetables year around. It is a known fact that Erma could make anything grow. When she wasn’t working in her yard, she loved to crochet. Friends and family could always count on gifts of handmade blankets, decorations and even doll clothes made with love. She was always making something for someone.

Erma valued time with her family. After retirement, “Granny and Grandpa” as they were known to their grandkids, moved to the country. Each summer, their house was a retreat as they hosted all of the grandkids for weeks of reuniting with cousins, eating homemade fudge and peanut brittle, shelling peas, picking the tastiest tomatoes and swimming. She made the summers memorable and fun for her family.

Later in life, Erma enjoyed bus tour travels with friends and family. She lived a full life, and was loved by those that knew her.
Survivors include her son Billy Ray Wilson and his wife Lynda, of Houston, Texas; her five grandchildren, Kelly, Jeff, Kristy, Jennifer, Becky, and her six great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Camilla, Lily ,Teddy and Titus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gordon Wilson; her sons, Edward Gordon Wilson, Jr. and Charlie Mack Wilson, Sr.; her sister Irene Goodin; and her grandson, Charlie M Wilson, Jr.
