Bearcats race in Tift County

The Bearcat cross-country team came in second place out of 11 teams last Saturday at the Tift County Invitational in Tifton, and the Lady Cats took fifth place out of 10 teams.

Stokes Moore broke the 19-minute mark with a quick 18:55 5K, leading the way for the Bearcats against runners from Lowndes, Coffee, Worth and other high schools.

Nathaniel Lambert was just a handful of strides behind Moore, clocking in at 19:03. Wright Cook was neck-and-neck with his teammate, finishing the race half a second after Lambert at 19:03.44.

Haydn Griffin came in at 19:14, Andru Matthews clocked in at 20:34 and John Willis Maples rounded out the Bearcats’ effort with a 22:12 time.

The Lady Cats were led by Uriyah Davis with a time of 22:41, coming in eight place out of 91 runners.

Aida Diaz finished the 5K in 24:38, Alaiya Schuyler clocked in at 25:40, Lani Jackson had a time of 26:54 and Caitlin Shephard had a time of 27:17.

Coming in 50th was Julie Wells with a time of 28:10, followed by Chloe Enfinger with a time of 28:33 and Makayla Ingram with a time of 32:20.

The Bainbridge cross-country teams hit the trail again Saturday, Oct. 15, for a meet at Thomas County Central, followed by the Epic 5K race at the Springhill Christmas Tree Farm in Bainbridge on Saturday, Oct. 22.
