“That went great,” head coach Candace Walker said. “Everybody pretty much got a chance to play. They played to win.”

On Tuesday, the Lady Cougars traveled to Valdosta for a tough region match-up against Valwood School. GCA battled for three sets, but in the end couldn’t overcome Valwood’s ability to return hard hit balls. They fell 18-25, 18-25, 22-25 for their third loss of the season.

“Valwood was good competition,” Walker said. “We played really well and we played our heart out. In that third set we came back and were leading, but they came back. It’s a learning and growing experience.”

Addie Elkins had one of the best matches of her career in the loss as she had 16 assists in just the last two sets. Kaitlyn Holcombe added two aces and three blocks. Sarah Castoro had three kills and three digs and Harrell had one ace and four kills.

The Lady Cougars travel to RF Munroe in Quincy on Tuesday and then wrap up the regular season with a rematch against Valdwood School on Thursday at home.
