Lady Cats drop midweek games to TCC and Colquitt

The Lady Cat softball team was outscored 11-2 as they dropped two midweek games. Bainbridge fell to the Thomas County Yellow Jackets 2-1 on Tuesday.

The Lady Cats took an early 1-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets in the top of the second. Makayla Hamilton drove Tyra Jackson with a line drive single to center field. It proved to be the only offense that Bainbridge could muster in the game though and TCC was able to come back for the win.

The Yellow Jackets tied in the game in the bottom of the third on a single to center field. They then took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth on a two out single to left field.

The Lady Cats’ final six batters of the game went down on strikes and TCC was able to hold on for the one run victory.

On Wednesday, Colquitt County topped the Lady Cats 9-1. The Packers scored at least two runs in every inning except for the fourth in the mercy rule shortened five-inning game. Bainbridge had seven its in the game, but they left five runners on base.

Bainbridge briefly took a 1-0 lead in the top if the first when Desirae Beachem drove in Taylor Swanner with a single to center. The Packers responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead for good.

Through 16 game this season, Mabry Grace Briggs continues to lead the team with a .490 batting average. She has driven in five runs and scored 15. She also has a team leading two homeruns and four doubles. Tyra Jackson is second on the team with a .409 batting average.

The Lady Cats traveled to Warner Robbins on Friday night and return home on Monday for their final regular season home game. They will take on Seminole County at 4 p.m.
