BHS and GCA cross-country teams compete in Albany

The Bainbridge and Grace Christian Academy cross-country teams gave strong performances last Saturday at the Deerfield Invitational meet in Albany. Teams from throughout Southwest Georgia competed, including Tift County, Colquitt County and Lee County.

The Bearcat varsity team came in sixth place out of 18 teams, the Lady Cats varsity grabbed eighth place out of 13 teams, and the Bearcat middle school team took sixth place out of 11 teams.

Efrain Diaz led the Bearcats in the 5K race with a time of 18:38 and a 17th place finish out of 202 runners, followed by Stokes Moore with a time of 18:53.

Wright Cook crossed the finish line in a time of 19:06, with Hadyn Griffin not far behind in a time of 19:30. Nathaniel Lambert clocked in at 19:56, Andru Matthews came through at 20:20 and John Willis Maples finished at 24:31.

Uriyah Davis had a 19th place finish for the Lady Cats with a time of 22:41, followed by Aida Diaz with a time of 25:17 and Alaiya Schuyler in 26:17.

Lani Jackson crossed the finish line at 26:47, Caitlin Shephard clocked in at 27:17, Chloe Enfinger came through at 27:41, Julie Wells hit the 28:00 on the nose and Makayla Ingram closed out the Lady Cats efforts with a time of 34:06.

The middle school Bearcats team competed in the J.V. 2.5K race. Aiden Matthews led the pack with a time of 10:48 and a 12th place finish, with Ashton Matthews close behind him at 11:07.

Connor Poitevint clocked in finished with a time of 11:45, Landon Watts had a time of 12:01. Jared Davis crossed the line at 12:31, followed immediately by Titus Porter at 12:34.

The Grace Christian Academy Cougars grabbed a 15th place finish in the varsity boys race.

Caleb Carr clocked in at 19:22, followed by Seth Parker at 21:59, Chasen Wood with a 22:40, Clay Wells with 23:46, John York at 25:26 and Spence Butler at 29:33.

The GCA Lady Cougars team saw Lilah Widner clocking in at 29:17, Harsimran Singh at 32:55 and Abby Bodrey at 41:01.

The J.V. Cougars team finished in seventh place and was led by Wyatt Carpenter. Carpenter had a fourth place finish out of 151 runners with a time of 9:47. Daniel Jones was close behind in seventh place with a time of 10:04. Jackson Davis came through at 12:24, Jay Lanier at 16:44, Ben York with a time of 17:07 and Sam Emmons with a time of 19:07.

The GCA middle school Lady Cougars team finished in ninth place. Abigail Anderson clocked in first for GCA with a time of 15:13, followed by Lainey McRae at 15:29, Ella Harrell at 15:44, Brook Worsley at 17:02, Brooke Tobin at 17:13 and Mel Bodrey at 17:19
