The Bainbridge High BassCats started their 2016-17 season by sweeping the podium in both the junior and senior divisions. The season opening tournament, which was held Aug. 27, features 40 student anglers and 22 boat captains.

In the junior division, Owen Richards brought home first place with a total weight of 9.1 pounds. He also caught the big fish of the day, a 6.4-pound monster. Bowynn Brown finished second in the junior division with a total weight of 5.12 pounds. Gage Sellers was third with a combined weight of 2.1 pounds.

In the senior division, Caleb Reynolds claimed the top podium spot with a combined weight of 5.9 pounds. Griffin long finished in second with a combined weight of 5.1 pounds, narrowly beating out Dalton Harrell who’s combined weight of 5 pounds was good for third.

The BassCats will compete next on Oct. 1 out of Paramore’s Landing.
