India Pauline “Polly” Lofton

Mrs. India Pauline “Polly” Lofton, 101, of Colquitt, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 24, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Colquitt United Methodist Church with Rev. Eric Sizemore and Rev. Rebecca Duke-Barton officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 1-2 p.m. at the Colquitt United Methodist Church Social Hall. Interment will follow at Colquitt City Cemetery with Bill Stuart, John Hanington, Pete Miller, Billy Ingram, Robert Houston, Walter Wilson, and Carter Crawford serving as active pallbearers.

Mrs. Polly retired as deputy clerk of court of Miller County. She was a member of Colquitt United Methodist Church for over 70 years, where she was a member of the Kate Wilkin Sunday School Class. Polly was an active traveler who explored nearly every state in America and much of Europe. She enjoyed family gatherings and celebrated her 100th birthday with over two hundred guests.  She was a voracious reader and enjoyed discussing politics and world events with everyone.

She is survived by one daughter, Inda Taylor of Colquitt; three grandchildren, Lana (Bill) Stuart of Buford, Ga., Paula (John) Hanington of Sasser, Ga., and Marcie (Pete) Miller of Bainbridge, Ga.; four great-granddaughters; two great-great grandchildren; and three sisters, Margaret Crawford of Sylvania, Ga., Elanor Wilson of Decatur, Ga., and Marcelle Houston of Blakely, Ga..  Mrs. Polly was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lofton.
