Alice Thursby Rutland Tharp, age 90, of Donalsonville, Ga., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tharp will be held on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Spring Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Whittaker, John Roberts, and Rev. Bob Roberts officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Keith Faircloth, Marty Faircloth, Jeff Tharp, Andy Dunn, Steve Whittaker, and Richard Plair serving as active casketbearers.  The committal service will be held in the church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be made to Seminole Manor Nursing Home 100 Florence Ave. Donalsonville, GA, Gentiva Hospice 432 East Shotwell St. Bainbridge, GA 39817, or to Spring Creek Baptist Church 2635 Hwy 253 Donalsonville, GA 39845.

She was born in Donalsonville, Ga. on January 24, 1926, to John Eldred Thursby and Leona Johnson Thursby.  She was a homemaker and the next to oldest member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.  Mrs. Alice enjoyed being with her family, canning, and shelling peas.

Mrs. Tharp leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Janet Sue Roberts and her husband Bob of Colquitt, Ga. and Betty Middleton of Donalsonville, Ga.; her sister, Lucille Rangel of Donalsonville; her grandchildren, Greg Middleton and wife Pam, Paula Alice Faircloth and husband Al, and Robert John Roberts and wife Miranda.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Erin Leigh Middleton, Lance Middleton, Mallory Cheyann Middleton, Ashley Robinson, and John Anthony Hines Roberts; as well as her great-great-grandchildren, Bailey Middleton, Landon Miller, and Jude Sandefur.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Eldred Thursby and Leona Johnson Thursby; her husbands, Robert Ander Rutland and Thomas Alvin Tharp, two sisters, and four brothers.
