It took all of one play for the eight grade Bearcats to take a lead they would never relinquish against Thomas County on Monday.

On the first play from scrimmage Caleb Mcdowell took a handoff from Quarterback Quayde Hawkins on a sweep play to the left and raced 49-yards untouched for the touchdown.

Rashod Broadnax added a two-point conversion to give Bainbridge Middle an 8-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets. Bainbridge went on to win 38-8 over the Yellow Jackets.

The Bearcats added another score late in the first quarter when Broadnax found the end zone following a bug third down conversion.

On third down and 23 yards to go at the Bainbridge 36, fullback Jvon Lee caught a pass out of the backfield at the Bearcat 41 and raced down the right sideline until he was dragged down at the Thomas County 16 yard line.

On the next play Broadnax took a handoff on a sweep to the left eluded four defenders and scored the touchdown. On the two-point conversion McDowell, at quarterback, raced up the middle for the score.

Lee added a score of his own in the second quarter to give Bainbridge a 24-0 lead.

An interception by Cornerback Caleb Lewis gave Bainbridge the ball on the 32-yard line. Following a play for no gain and a penalty, on a fourth down and eight yards from the Thomas County 14 yard line, Broadnax broke two tackles and advanced the ball for a first down at one-yard line. On the next play Lee scored on a run up the middle.

The Bearcats took a 38-0 lead into half time after McDowell scored on a 20-yard run and Broadnax broke free for a 75-yard score.

They were held scoreless in the second half and Thomas County added their only score of the game on a one-yard run in the middle of the fourth-quarter.

The Bearcats host Thomas County for their annual homecoming game on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Centennial Field.
