The Bainbridge Lady Cats (5-6) took an early lead over Veterans on Friday, but they couldn’t hold on as they fell 4-1.
Desirae Beachem doubled to center field with one out in the bottom of the first and then came around to score on a sacrifice fly to center by Abigail Gardner.
The Lady Cats’ offense sputtered for the remainder of the game as they didn’t record another hit until Tori Sprenkle led off the bottom of the seventh with a single to left.
Veterans scored a run in the top of the fourth to tie the game and took the lead for good with three runs in the top of the sixth.
Gardner was charged with the loss in the circle for Bainbridge as she pitched a complete game and allowed only five hits and one earned run.
Veterans’ other three runs were unearned due to five Lady Cat errors.
Defensive woes have plagued the Lady Cats during their four-game losing streak. They have committed at least two errors in three of the four game including seven against Thomas County Central in an 11-2 loss.
Bainbridge returns to the field Thursday for a home game against Thomasville.
