The Avenues Nail and Spa next to Bonnie Blue House will be closed through at least Monday, after a car drove through the front of the building Friday morning. Christy Hines was pulling into the parking spot in front of the shop when her car jumped the curb and rammed into the front of the store. There were no injuries in the accident and Hines did not require medical attention.

“I was getting ready to come to the nail salon,” Hines said. “I pulled up to the nail salon and as I was pulling up I noticed that the brake, I guess it wasn’t working properly. Eventually it stopped and before I new it I was in the front of the nail salon.”

Hines said that she has had no previous problems with her 2012 Toyota Corolla. She said she was scared and nervous when he car hit the wall and was afraid that there would be someone inside that had gotten injured.

The first step following the accident will be to brace the wall and frame the front with wood.

The immediate major concern is structural issues with the building. The shop will have to be closed until the city building inspector can come on Monday and check the stability of the front of the store.

The shop may be able to open by using a side entrance until the front can be prepared, but no final decision will be made until Monday’s inspection.
