The deadline is rapidly approaching to enter a pet photo in the Humane Society Calendar photo contest. The deadline is August 31 at 5 p.m. EST. The contest is a fundraiser, with all proceeds designated to the Bainbridge/Decatur County Humane Society building fund for a new, improved shelter building.

Chosen photos will be used in a Pet Calendar, with the pet receiving the most votes featured on the cover. Contest winners will be determined by the top 12 entries that get the most votes, and those will be featured, one each month. Additional prizes include: for $500 raised, receive a large gift basket with gift certificates from local merchants, Humane Society T-shirts, one year membership to the Society and two calendars. $250 raised receives gift basket, two T-shirts and one calendar. $100 receives Humane Society T-shirt and one calendar.

There is a $10 entry fee for each photo submitted. All photos must be of pets only, no people, and all animals must be depicted in a humane, dignified manner. Quality digital photos are preferred, but high-resolution scans of hard copies are acceptable. All photos must be submitted online by registering at www.gogophotocontest.com/bainbridgehumane

All photos are subject to review and approval and submitted photos become property of the BDCHS and may be used as needed.

Entries and donations must be made via the online contest page and are through a secure site. No hard copies of photo entries or payments in person will be accepted at the BDCHS shelter.

If you don’t own a pet, you can still participate by voting for your favorite photo, all able to be viewed on the website. Each vote is $1. It is interesting to note when reviewing the submitted photos that many of the entries are pets that have been adopted from the shelter in past years.

Additional recognition can be given by reserving a calendar day to honor your pet. Each day is $10 and your pet’s photo and name will appear on the date of your choice. Once a date has been reserved, it will no longer be available.
