Ouida Jean “Miss Jean” Castelow, age 79, of Donalsonville, Ga., passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 3, 2016, at Donalsonville Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Castelow were held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Spring Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Dean and Rev. Brian Hatchett officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Rev. James Scarborough officiating and Jason Spurlock, Daniel Trejo, Keith Fletcher, Chance Denby, Jacob Trejo, and Ronnie Radney serving as active casketbearers. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at 1 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Castelow was born in Vidalia, Ga. on March 18, 1937. She was a wonderful and loving homemaker, a mighty prayer warrior, and a faithful member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. She and her husband, Mr. William and their three girls lived in Edison, Ga. for many years. Mrs. Castelow taught Sunday School, VBS, and worked with children in the church. She had a huge heart of compassion. “Miss” Jean, as so many affectionately referred to her, has co-authored three prayer books with her daughter Gail that will be coming out soon.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Gail Thomas and husband Wayne, Rhonda Denby and husband Emmett, and Sherrie Fletcher and husband Keith; her grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Spurlock, Eva (Keith) Fletcher, Daniel (Hannah) Trejo, Jacob Trejo, Naomi Denby, and Chance Denby; as well as her great-grandchildren, Arianna Spurlock, Ryker, Nolan, and Ian Fletcher, and Roman and Vince Trejo.

Mrs. Castelow was preceded in death by her mother, Rosebud Adams; her husband William Clyde Castelow; and her granddaughter, Laura Jean Spurlock.

Evans Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
