Geneva Weathersby Josey, 82, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016, surrounded by her family.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at West Bainbridge Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie McMillan and Jimmy Dean officiating. Interment will follow at West Bainbridge Cemetery with Will Josey, Todd Bowen, Ivan Juarez, Christopher Hall, Bill Powell, Jr., and Clayton Powell serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Bainbridge Baptist Church Food Bank, P.O. Box 356, Bainbridge, GA 39818.

Geneva was born December 5, 1933, in Bainbridge, the daughter of William Irvin and Jennie Dodson Weathersby. Mrs. Josey was a lifelong member of West Bainbridge Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the choir. Geneva was a wonderful cook and loved decorating her home for Christmas. She enjoyed vacationing in the mountains, and like many people in our area, she often found happiness at a local fishing hole and was unrivaled in her ability to clean fish. Geneva dearly loved her grandchildren and was always excited by their visits.

Survivors include her son, Bill Josey and his wife, Beth, of Bainbridge; her daughters Donna Bowen of Bainbridge,  Sandra Foulk of Thomasville, Ga., and Carol Powell and her husband, Bill, of Bainbridge; her sisters, Sybil Isler of Bainbridge, and Florence Bishop of Bainbridge; a sister-in-law, Mary Weathersby of Bainbridge; her grandchildren, Christopher Hall and his wife, Katrina, Laura Hall, Brent Foulk, Boston Foulk, Ginger Phillips and her companion, Kyle Moulton, Amy Juarez and her husband, Ivan, Todd Bowen, Will Josey and his wife, Nicki, Stephany Josey, Bethany Josey, Bill Powell, Jr. and his wife, Christina, Clayton Powell and his wife, Erica, and Katie Harrell; her great-grandchildren Charity Bowen, Tristan Phillips, Christian Juarez, Catalina Juarez, Cameron Juarez, Payton Josey, Alex Josey, Kayden Harrell, and Jenny Powell; and her great-great grandchildren, Karson Phillips, and Josie Reynolds.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Willard Josey; her brother, Robert Weathersby; her sisters Jeannette Hernandez, and Yevonne Henderson.
