With their first scrimmage just a couple weeks away, the Bainbridge High School Lady Cat softball team is hard at work getting ready.

“I’m really excited about this upcoming season,” head coach Christopher Bryant said. “It’s hard to say what players to be on the lookout for because all of my girls are playing as a team. Every one of them has a key role with the functioning, and what will be success, of this team.”

The team will open the season with a scrimmage on August 2 against Miller County. The regular season will start against Cairo with a junior varsity and varsity doubleheader at home on August 9.

“My team goals are to push this group of girls to a winning season, as well as develop them as young ladies ready for the real world life experience,” Bryant said.

The team will be working to get back to the playoffs this season after making the move from AAAA to AAAAA.

“I have high expectations for my girls,” Bryant said. “If they continue to work and continue to meet their team goals, I see no reason why we shouldn’t make the playoffs.”

The Lady Cats are looking forward to multiple young players having big seasons, but Bryant said he is keeping it a secret right now which players he expects to have big seasons.

“I’ve got several players that I expect to bust out and have an awesome season,” he said.
