Georgia Power has announced it will be closing six payment offices in the Southwest Georgia region in mid-October.

Offices scheduled to be closed are located in: Pelham, Tifton, Moultrie, Dawson, Bainbridge and Thomasville.

Joe Truhett, area manager for Georgia Power at the Bainbridge site, explained that over the last few years more and more customers are utilizing communications technology to pay their bills. “They are not walking into our billing office to pay their bills but are using their phones or the Internet to pay.”

Truhett said the company is making an effort to make it easier for people to pay their electric bills in person by increasing the list of authorized payment locations, such as groceries or other retail operations. They are expanding those sites from 2700 to 5300.

Customers can find a list of authorized payment centers nearby by visiting www.GeorgiaPower.com and entering their zip code.

Truhett said the local billing office will close October 20.

All other services offered at the Bainbridge facility, such as line crews, services, etc. will remain.
