Lewis selected as Decatur Co. Lion of the Year at banquet

The Decatur County Lions Club held its Annual Awards Banquet on the evening of Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at The Marina.
Featured speaker and Installing Officer was Past District Governor Herbert Hughes of the Cordele Lions Club. Certificates of Appreciation and Perfect Attendance Awards were presented to those who generously gave of their time and efforts during the year. Charlie Laing enumerated the Club’s many accomplishments including two Boston Butt sales, a Broom & Mop Sale, ringing the Salvation Army Bell during the Christmas season, a Spring Fling Celebration for the residents and staff of Bainbridge Health and Rehab and many other projects for the benefit of those in need of assistance.
Certificates of Appreciation from several organizations that received support from the club throughout the year were presented; these included International President Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada’s Certificate of Appreciation in Recognition of Distinguished Achievement in Fulfilling the Mission of Lions Clubs International. Past District Governor Cotton Hester inducted new member Debra Brock into the Club. For her dedication and hard work, the Club voted Carol Lewis Lion of the Year.
Officers for the term July 2016-June 2017 are: President Hardy Powell; First Vice President Charlie Laing; Second Vice President Debbie Elkins; Secretary Carol Lewis; Treasurer Chuck Lewis; Chaplain Sandi Davis; Directors Buddy Davis, Doris White, Grace Ezell and Jackie Joy; Tail Twister Cotton Hester; Lion Tamer Dewey White; and Membership Chairman Jack Taylor.
The Decatur County Lions Club looks forward to another outstanding year of service and growth.
