Walter “Duck” Swearingain
Mr. Walter “Duck” Swearingain, 77, of Colquitt, died Monday, June 13, 2016, at his residence. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kent Barwick and Rev. Tim Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Colquitt City Cemetery with Phillip Swearingain, Colby Smith, Meed Kelley, Rob Elkins, Brian Pickle, Doug Lane, Michael Middleton, and Dale Powell serving as active pallbearers. Visitation was held Thursday, June 16, 2016, from 10-11 a.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home.
Mr. Swearingain was a member of Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church and was a truck dispatcher for Southern Ag Carriers.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Swearingain of Colquitt; one son, Dr. David (Emily) Swearingain of Donalsonville, Ga.; one daughter, Donna (Lyn) Smith of Donalsonville; five grandchildren, Phillip (Kandice) Swearingain, Beth (Meed) Kelley, Colby (Ashton) Smith, Gracyn Bennett, and Dagen Bennett; six great grandchildren, Noah Swearingain, Kinley Swearingain, Ryleigh Kelley, Conner Kelley, Kason Smith, and Reid Smith; one sister, Nellie Phillips of Colquitt; and one brother, Carlos (Faye) Sutton of Fla.. Mr. Swearingain was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Alma Swearingain.
