Celebration of Life services for Haldon (Hal) Langston Akridge, 90, of Meigs, Ga., will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at Meigs Baptist Church. Rev. Franklin Russ and Rev. Lynn Roberts will officiate,a  and interment will be in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be VT Akridge, Mark Tarmey, Alton Akridge, Jeffrey West, John Redmond and Neil Gassett. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Meigs Baptist Church, Mason and brothers-in law.

Mr. Akridge passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at Legacy Village at Park Regency in Moultrie. Born in Sale City on May 22, 1926, he was the son of the late Daniel H. Akridge and Minnie Lee Faircloth Akridge. He was a retired parts associate and member of Meigs Baptist Church. He was Chaplain for the Cairo VFW, a Deacon at Meigs Baptist Church, a Mason and a member of the Civitan Club, American Legion, Pelham Baptist Quartet, Bridge Master and was the last surviving member of the Navy USS Kenneth Whiting.

He is survived by his wife Carol Akridge of Meigs; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Ray Coursey of Metter, daughter Stella Akridge of Metter, stepdaughter Renee Draper (Brandon) of Bainbridge and a stepson, Patrick Thornton of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Justin Jones (Amy) of Savannah; Catherine McWhirter (Phillip) of Watkinsville; Nikki Thompson of Bainbridge; David Coursey (Sandy) of Metter; sisters-in-law Carolyn Glatti and Linda Allen and a brother-in-law, Alan Jones (Melinda) all of Pensacola; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Taylor Akridge; brothers, Alton Akridge, Vincent Akridge, Hillman Akridge, Keith Akridge; sisters, Nita Hughes, Laverne Thomas, Culus Tarmey, Senete Turner, Lanelle Rosnerski and Prudence Musgrove.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Meigs Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Meigs Baptist Church.
