Aubrey C. “Doc” Gainous, 87, of Cairo, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Archbold Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be held at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11 a.m.  Roy Brock will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be his nephews, Ricky Faircloth, Randy Faircloth, and Gary Faircloth, all of Bainbridge; sons of his lifelong friend, Roger Gainous, Jr., Leon Gainous, and Barry Gainous, all of Cairo.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Harper and Joey Harper of Thomasville, and Michael Faircloth of Bainbridge.

Mr. Gainous was born on July 26, 1928 in Pelham, Ga. to the late Charlie Gainous and Katie Bell Glover Gainous.  On December 2, 1949, he married Lillian Golden Gainous, who passed away in 2011. He worked for over 30 years as an engineer at Joseph Campbell’s Company, where he met his wife. He enjoyed working on his farm, repairing tractors and lawn mowers, and going to auctions. He was a resident at Magnolia Place Assisted Living Home in Cairo since November of 2015.

Survivors include: a son, Danny Ray Gainous and a daughter, Connie Marie Gainous, both of Cairo; four grandchildren, Jason Gainous of Summerville, SC, Chrissy Gainous Gass of Thomasville, Clay Murphy and Caly Murphy Coffey of Cairo; 6 great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joey Harper of Thomasville, J.J. Harper, Melody Mapes and Gabriel Gainous, all of Summerville, SC, Casen Murphy of Cairo; and a sister, Ruby Faircloth of Bainbridge. He also leaves behind his best friend, Roger Gainous.

Mr. Gainous was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years; his parents; 2 sisters, Irene Gainous and Margaree Gainous Willis; and 3 infant siblings.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, June 10, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
