Letter to the editor in reference to the Sheriff’s election

Published 5:59 pm Tuesday, June 7, 2016

Letter to the Editor, for Mr. Findley,

I am writing you because I saw the announcement you ran in the newspaper on Wed., May 25, 2016, on the front page, about Wiley Griffin winning the primary, which he did, and then you stated he was celebrating his re-election. This is your quote in the paper, “Decatur County Sheriff Wiley Griffin shakes hands with Roy Reynolds while celebrating his re-election at Crave Eatery Tuesday night.”

I have to correct you here, because you knew that my husband David is going to be a write-in candidate in Nov. 2016 election for sheriff of Decatur County, so that makes your statement incorrect!

And you need to make a retraction of your statement in the newspaper.

I am very upset that you are omitting and disregarding my husband David and I don’t understand why.

I am not trying to make you mad, Sir, but I have a real concern and I am just trying to understand what is going on. You may be for Wiley Griffin being sheriff, that is your choice, but business is business and there is to be no bias in business or the election..

You cannot make false statements in the paper to make the readers and voters think that there is no other candidates running and make them feel that they have no other choice but to vote for Wiley Griffin, because that is NOT true.

My husband has 23 years of law enforcement experience and is well qualified to be sheriff. People in Decatur County know my husband and know he will make a good sheriff.

I want this letter to be in the newspaper as a letter to the editor to show you are not unfair to others.

Sincerely yours,

Pamela Benjamin
