Bainbridge High School tennis teams hold annual awards banquet

The Bainbridge High School tennis teams held their year-end banquet Thursday evening.

The boys’ tennis team won the region championship and advanced to the second round of the state tournament. The Bearcats defeated Pike County 5-0 in the first round of the state tournament before falling to Woodward Academy in the second round.

The Lady Cats fished as region 1-AAAA runners-up before also advancing to the second round of the state tournament. They defeated Pike County 4-1 in the first round before being eliminated by Woodward in the second.

As the banquet Lady Cat’s number one singles players Taylor Greene was recognized as the girls’ most valuable player and Bearcat number one singles player Nour Hasona was named boys’ most valuable player.

The dynamic duo wards went to Chloe and Bree Powell of the Lady Cats and Mark Loeffler and Bryce Howell of the Bearcats.

The Coaches Awards went to Sydnee Burke and Jones Gossett. Burke was the number three singles player for the Lady Cats and Gossett was the number two singles player for the Bearcats.

Mallie Rollins, the Lady Cats’ number two singles player was named the scholar athlete.
