It was a prefect summer Saturday evening for members of the medical profession, Memorial Hospital Foundation supporters and citizens who gathered at Southwind Plantation for the fifth annual Derby Night party.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 5th Annual Bill Jones Award to Dr. Jack and Joyce Leverett in recognition of all their contributions, hard work and support for Memorial Hospital and Foundation.

The Bill Jones Award is given each year to the person or persons who most closely exemplify the spirit and dedication to sustaining and improving Memorial Hospital and Manor as displayed by the late Bill Jones. Jones was a leading proponent of the hospital and initiated the organization of the Foundation as well as organizing the first fundraiser, known as the Gala, which continued as the major event for many years. It was replaced five years ago by the Derby Party.
