GCA competes in state track meet

The Grace Christian Academy Cougar and Lady Cougar track and field teams competed in the GISA AA State Track and Field Championships April 28-30.

Perra Harrell competed in three events for the Lady Cougars. She finished third in the state in the 1600-meter run, third in the 3200 and ninth in the triple jump.

Mikey Harrell also competed in an individual event, finishing eighth in the long jump.

Additionally, two Lady Cougar relay teams competed in the meet. The 4×100 team of Carly Godwin, Kaitlyn Holcombe, Mikey and Perra finished in 12th place and the 4×400 team of Godwin, Holcombe, Kate McRae Peraa finished in eleventh.

Overall the Lady Cougars finished in 12th place out of 17 teams.

The Cougars had three athletes compete in individual events. Dakota Vickers finished third in the 400, Gabe Parker finished seventh in the 1600 and Jack McRae finished tenth in both the shot put and 100.

The Cougars 4×100 team of Jack, Sam McRae, Vickers and Caleb Carr finished in seventh and their 4×400 team of Jack, Sam, Vickers and Parker finished sixth.

Overall the Cougars finished 12th out of 21 teams.
