Robert William Dubay was born April 29, 1943 in Wyandotte, Michigan, the son of John Gordon Dubay and Alvina Engel Dubay. He graduated from Riverview High School in Sarasota, Fla. His college vitae included an Associate’s Degree from Manatee Junior College, a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Florida, and Master’s and PhD from the University of Southern Mississippi with a major in History and minor in Political Science. Among many claims to fame, Bob’s Bachelor’s Degree was conferred at the inaugural ceremony of the University of South Florida.

As a history buff, Bob certainly made his own mark in our community beginning in 1973. Bob was on the original staff at Bainbridge Junior College and served for ten years as the Academic Dean, which included hiring the start up faculty. He longed for the classroom. His heart for teaching and his students wooed him back for the remainder of his career. He retired from Bainbridge College as a history professor. One-of-a-kind, a legend, the man with the truck that looked broken in half….Bob Dubay.

Survivors include his wife, Linda S. Dubay of Bainbridge, and his son, John Gordon Dubay, II of Bainbridge. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Cheryl Hug.
