Annie Edna Pope was born February 14, 1926 in Andalusia, Alabama, the daughter of Jep Pope and Vister Oliver Pope. She married J. T. Bryars and lived most of her life in Decatur County. Mrs. Bryars was a seamstress for Jack Winter for 23 years and also worked at Georgia Industries for the Blind. She was a member of Christian Faith Church.

Edna was very faithful and modeled a Christian life by always putting others first and loving unconditionally. She was dedicated to her family and enjoyed every moment spent with them. She shared her heart with her family and friends through her great cooking and green thumb. She enjoyed being in the pea patch and the tomato field, then sharing her goods with others. Her pets, her grandchildren, and her husband, whom she affectionately called “Shug”, were the light of her life.

Survivors include her husband of over 70 years, J. T. Bryars; her daughter-in-law, Tricia Bryars; her siblings, Reuben Pope, Louise Barnes and Willie Jean Werner; her grandchildren, Wendy Bryars and Mark Bryars; and her great-grandchildren, Jessica Donaldson, Scottie Donaldson and Sunshine Welch-Bryars. In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her son, Paul Bryars, and her siblings, Wilbur Pope, Lillie Mae Douglas, Mary Ollie Williams, L. E. Pope, Francis Douglas, and Maxine McDaniel.

The family wishes to extend a special appreciation to the staff and employees of Memorial Manor and Memorial Hospital ICU.
