Bainbridge Rotary Club’s first endeavor to present a Bainbridge version of the popular TV series, Dancing with the Stars, is considered a great success. “It was a great time and we got a lot of great feedback,” said Marjorie Mayfield, who not only was the event chairman and organizer, but also danced as a member of one of the teams with her partner Blake Carruthers.

“It was a good time,” she said and she has been approached by lots of people who want to dance in it next year. She also reported that the club netted $11,600 from the event, the proceeds of which go to the purchase of a Tele-Health system for a local school.

There were three categories of judging and ways to vote. The People’s Choice Award was won by Mayfield and her dance partner Blake Carruthers. Winners of the on-site fundraising, a well as the judges’ choice award, went to the team of Dr. Shawn Surratt and Leigh Powell.

Judges were Maggie Bridges Kearney, April Goodman and Jeremy Williams.

The major fundraiser for Rotary replaced the Casino Nights held in previous years.
