The Bainbridge High School Lady Cat tennis team was eliminated from the state playoffs in the second round Monday afternoon.

The Lady Cats fell 5-0 to the defending state champions from Woodward Academy.

“I felt like our girls played very hard and they represented Bainbridge High School very well, but in the end, they just fell short to a great team,” head coach Amy Thomas said. “The games themselves were close, but none of the sets were.”

The Lady Cats advanced to the second round after defeating Pike County 4-1 in the first round. They were also the runner-ups in Region 1-AAAA.

“I was pleased with their effort from the beginning,” Thomas said. “We set some goals as a team and some of those goals we met and some will inspire us to work harder for next year.”

The Lady Cats lose multiple seniors from this year’s team including, number one singles player Taylor Greene, but they also return multiple contributors and have underclassman poised to contribute.
