This year’s Decatur County-Bainbridge Relay For Life is in full swing and scheduled for Friday, April 22.
Relay For Life is a fundraising event held in communities big and small across the U.S. to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those who lost the battle and honor the family, friends and caretakers who were there with them every step of the way.
This year’s event has a Survivor Supper planned for 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The survivor lap will follow the supper at 7 p.m. at Willis Park. Afterward, the Luminaria Ceremony will be held, where candles are lit and placed inside personalized bags that represent those who have lost the fight and those still battling.
Relay For Life Chairman Jennifer DePappa said she was excited to have another year where survivors and lost loved one could be recognized in the Bainbridge community.
“We didn’t want to go a year without our survivors and the people we lost,” DePappa. “We are really excited about the city letting us use Willis Park and we do get to honor those”
Luminaria Bags are $10 for a white bag, $25 for a gold bag and $50 for a glow balloon.
Survivors will be given a T-Shirt at the Survivor Dinner.
