BHS tennis teams defeat Americus-Sumter and Westover

Coach Amy Thomas’s Bainbridge High School Bearcat and Lady Cat tennis teams defeated Americus-Sumter and Westover to conclude the regular season.

The Bearcats began play against Amercus0Sumter with a 6-4, 7-5 win by Nour Hasona over Heeral McGhee in number one singles. Jones Gossett defeated Joseph Ndaayezwi 6-1, 6-3 in number two singles and Grayson Graham defeated Sage Finch 6-3, 6-1 in number three singles. Mark Loeffler and Bryce Howell defeated Austin Sandwich and Will McCoy 6-2, 6-2 in number one doubles and Matthew Walker and Hudson Barber defeated Reggie Merritt and John Martinez 6-3, 7-5 at number two doubles.

The Lady Cats’ Taylor Greene defeated the Lady Panthers’ Jessica Clayton 6-2, 6-1 in number one singles, Mallie Rollins defeated Morgan Cloutier 6-1, 6-2 in number two singles and Sydnee Burke defeated Kate Griffith 6-0, 6-1 in number three singles.

Maci Barber and Jade Stacey defeated Kahira Hadley and Bailey Roberson 6-2, 6-1 in number one singles and Bree Powell and Chloe Powell defeated Wynter Pritchard and Courtney Dickens 6-1, 6-0 in number two doubles.

The Bearcats defeated Westover 4-1 and the Lady Cats received a forfeit victory Thursday in Albany to complete their regular season.

In boys’ singles play Nour Hasona defeated John Hatcher 6-0, 6-0 at number one, Jones Gossett defeated Marcial Saavedra 6-1, 6-4 at number two and Grayson Graham lost to Alex Clenney 3-6, 6-4, 9-11 at number three.

In boys’ doubles Bryce Howell and Mark Loeffler defeated Myles McCoy and Jerrett Smith 6-0, 6-0 at number one and Matthew Walker and Hudson Barber defeated T.J. Robinson and Anthony Ross 6-1, 6-0 at number two.

Coach Thomas said she is very proud of her two teams performances in Region 1-AAAA play.

“The Lady Cats have not dropped a set in region play and the Bearcats have only lost four sets in region play,” she said. “It is an Unbelievable accomplishment for both.”

The Lady Cats and Bearcats will now host the Region 1-AAAA Tournament

Monday, April 11 through Thursday, April 14 at Bill Reynolds Tennis Center and the Bainbridge High School courts.
