Mae Ola Zorn Gibson, 99, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Monday, March 7, 2016.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn Hurley and Rev. Rawleigh Furney officiating. Interment will follow at Attapulgus Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Gibson was born March 27, 1916 in Sycamore, Ga., the daughter of Herschel Zorn and Ola Irene McMaurrian Zorn. Mae Ola was a graduate of Sycamore High School. She married Edmond Joseph “E.J.” Gibson on October 7, 1938. She was a member of the Attapulgus United Methodist Church from 1938-1974. She transferred her membership to Bainbridge First United Methodist Church in 1974. She was an active member of United Methodist Women with the Ernestine Clark Circle, First United Methodist Keenagers and a faithful member of the Mary O’Quinn Sunday School Class.

Mae Ola was the epitome of a quiet disciple. She was a strong woman with a tender heart. She loved the Lord and she loved people, especially her family. Mae Ola was a fantastic cook and often shared meals with her family, friends, and church family. She always tried to find the positive in every situation and person. She was a giver and led by example.

Survivors include her twin sons, Edd Gibson and his wife, Anita, of Dothan, Ala. and Joe Gibson and his wife, Gail, of Tucker, Ga; her son-in-law, John Kiker of Palm Harbour, Fla.; her sister-in-law, Myrle Ann Zorn; her six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mae Ola was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Gibson, her daughter, Laura Gibson Kiker, and her siblings, Blanche Whitley, O’Neal Zorn, Catherine Harrison, Latrelle Nicholson, and Nolan Zorn.
