Happy winners and musical strains from the Grace Christian Academy string ensemble made the opening reception of the Decatur County Artists Guild Spring Show a special event Thursday evening.

Excitement mounted as Firehouse Director, Gerard Kwilecki stepped up to announce the show’s winners.

Entries had been judged earlier in the day by Leslie Puckett, Director of Art at the Tallahassee Senior Center. She chose prizes first through third in each of the categories: 2-D, 3-D and photography, before naming Best in Show.

A “Peoples’ Choice”award will be presented to the artist who receives the most votes recorded by attendees at the reception and throughout the duration of the exhibit.

Thursday evening winners were: Miriam Galindez-Stroud, 3rd in 2-D; Ann Marsh, 2nd in 2-D; Basil Lucas, 2nd in 3-D; Phyllis Lucas, 1st in 2-D; Linda Sellars, Best in Show; Lyn Morales, 1st in 3-D; Sharon Foulk, 2nd in photography; Becky Bardin, 1st in photography; Lauren Turner, 3rd in photography and Henry Intilli, 3rd in 3-D.
